Description
Solicitation The intent of this procurement is to rent vehicles for use during the summer months on an as needed basis. The vehicles will be released when no longer needed or in the fall of each year. This procurement is intended to be awarded on an option year basis. This procurement is intended to be an Indefinite Quantity Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) Requirements, Option Year type contract. No minimum or maximum quantities of vehicles are identified. The purpose of this contract is to secure the rental of vehicles without operator as listed in the Schedule of Items, to fulfill the surge in vehicles needed during the summer field season. The vehicles will be used for hauling personnel, tools, material and equipment. They are subject to operation over narrow, unimproved dirt and/or gravel roads, through mountains timbered areas where brush scratches and minor dents may occur to bumpers and body. Brush scratches and minor dents will be considered normal wear and tear. Minor windshield glass damage, such as, but not limited to, “oyster-shell” rock chips will be considered normal wear and tear unless the driver’s visibility is obscured. It is anticipated that there will be wear on the paint on the inner and outer surfaces of the pick-up bed including, but not limited to the rails and tailgate. There may be chips from flying rocks, and there may be scratches from brush along the roads. Such wear, chips and scratches will be considered “ordinary wear and tear” to the extent stated in II-15 Loss Damage or Destruction. The number of vehicles is unknown, could be as low as 1, but as high as 20. The rental period is anticipated to be one month up to five months. Location – Work will be performed on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The Government reserves the right to utilize vehicles for emergency use off Forest, including but not limited to forest fires as necessary to accomplish its mission. Vehicles are to be operated by personnel assigned to but not limited to the Supervisor’s Office, Ranger Districts and other emergency assignments. Date for the first delivery of vehicles is anticipated to be April 15, 2010.
