- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for lease of a fully found vessel, operating personnel, facilities, fuel, oil, food and support equipment as specified to conduct a geophysical survey to map submarine canyons in waters between 400 and 3000m. The survey will require one cruise compromised of one leg of approximately 6 days with the period of May 16, 2010 through May 29, 2010 ( exact dates of cruise and added transit time to be agreed upon prior to May 1, 2010. The point of origin for this operation will be a port within 30 hours of the survey location. Vessel shall be available for mobilization one (1) to two (2) days before work commences and demobilization 1 day after the cruise has ended. The survey area is bounded by the following coordinates3850' - 40 00'N and 6905' -7134'W. VESSEL REQUIREMENTS: The vessel shall be fully licensed by as required by federal law for safety and seaworthiness. All safety and lifesaving equipment shall meet or exceed Federal Regulations pertaining to the vessel certification. Vessel shall be from 50 feet LOA, beam of 8 feet or greater, draft of no more than 15 feet. Vessel shall be self propelled, have a transit speed of at least 8 knots, and be capable of sustaining survey/steerage speeds of 3-5 knots without steering off course. Vessel shall provide both 220 single phase power and 110 single phase power. Vessel shall provide clean power supply for the operation of the geophysical instrumentation. The vessel shall provide a second power supply at least 20kW to drive the acoustic sound source. This power supply should be entirely separate from the power supply needed to run the ship's regular operations. Vessel must have a clear after deck of 100 square feet that will accommodate and secure government supplied research equipment and enclosed space of approximately 20 square feet for computers and associated acquisition electronics. Vessel must have deck mounted tugger or winch for equipment deployment and recovery. The vessels crew shall be responsible for the fabrication and installation of any mountings for installation of geophysical equipment and modification of interior bunk space/common areas for use as data acquisition lab. The vessel must have adequate accommodations for a scientific party of up to 6 in a mixed gender ( No more than four Accommodations, also include three (3) standard meals per day and a midnight meal (during 24 hour operations) RFQ 10ERQQ0253 will be issued on 03/12/2010 with written quotes due on 04/12/2010 The NAICS code is 488390.
