- Description
- This RFI requests industry's input to address possible near-term (< 5 years) technology development initiatives that will deliver or enhance CDL capability as described in paragraph two below. Please describe, in detail, existing and potential CDL related initiatives that can be rapidly prototyped and disseminated to the field for operational use. Based on inputs received the CDL Program Management Office has tentatively scheduled Industry Information Exchange Day(s) for 4-6 May 2010. The CDL EA, OUSD(I) and the joint service representatives are interested in information and efforts in the following three major areas: (NOTE: Examples listed below are suggestions and not intended to restrict submissions) a. Evolutionary terminal development: Development of a tactical Network-CDL (N-CDL) spoke terminal; Further terminal miniaturization to accommodate Size, Weight and Power restricted UAVs of < 30 lbs; Frequency flexible terminals (other than Ku/X band); Development of mesh network technology; Development of a Discovery CDL(D-CDL) terminal concept b. Suggested changes to CDL waveform applications at the data link layer: Solutions for efficient use of spectrum in Ku restricted host nations; Application of pulsed mode CDL; CDL and micro digital data link interoperability; High data rate solutions; Forward error correction of modulation data and multipath mitigation c. Advanced CDL technology insertion (prioritized by warfighter need): Demonstrations proving terminal performance beyond what's currently available (other bands, high data rates, phased array antenna, networking, etc.); Studies including development of CDL certification test equipment for advanced waveforms and related joint interoperability certification; Dual use technology for line of sight and beyond line of sight comms; Anti-jam, low probability of intercept/detection enhancements Please refer to the attached documents for further information.
