Description
Background: The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) is conducting a market survey to determine supply base interest for the introduction of the developmental fitness suit. Based on the feedback from a recent wear test, down selection has been completed and the formal approval process is underway. Fitness Suit Requirements: NCTRF is seeking manufacturing sources of unisex fitness suit jackets and pants for male and female Naval personnel. The fitness suit will be a mandatory item for E-1 through 0-10 personnel, and is intended to be purchased through the Navy Exchange Service Command. Specifics on demand, quantities and delivery requirements are not available at this time. If approved as proposed, the fitness suit will consist of the following components and design features: Fabrics- Shell: Plain weave, 100% false twist textured nylon with durable water repellent finish in Navy Blue 3392- Lining: 100% polyester warp knit mesh, with antimicrobial and moisture wicking properties, in Black Jacket- Fully lined- Full length front zipper backed by a wind flap and chin protector- Fold down collar- Three-piece, raglan-style long sleeves with stitched elbow articulations- Vented back yoke and underarms- Two front zippered welt pockets- Adjustable draw cord hem (adjustment inside the pockets)- Gold (non-reflective) segmented heat transfer of NAVY on upper chest and back yoke- Trimmed with reflective and gold (non reflective) piping Pant- Fully lined - Straight leg design with stitched knee articulations- Pull-on style, with elastic waist with drawstring- Two side seam pockets - Reflective covered, zippered openings at the bottom of each hemmed leg- Gold (non-reflective) segmented heat transfer of NAVY on leg Note: Fabrics and designs have not been formally approved and may be modified during the approval process. Supplier requirements:The supplier of this suit must be capable of:- Manufacturing athletic clothing domestically- Sending and receiving electronic patterns and data packages- Maintaining a quality plan for manufacturing in accordance with ANSI and/or Military Standards To participate as a supplier of this item, the manufacturer will ultimately need to become a Certified Vendor in the US Navy's Uniform Certification Program, managed by NCTRF. Submission requirements:Submissions to this request should include: - Documentation detailing past history of producing domestically manufactured athletic clothing for commercial or military use- Assurance that your firm can send and receive electronic patterns and data packages- Description of your manufacturing capabilities (include capacity information)- Sample of your Quality Assurance plan - Documentation detailing past history of meeting required delivery requirements- Listing of sub-contractors (name, address, and capability) Submissions must be received no later than 4 PM EST on 2 April 2010.
