- Description
- The Bureau of Land Management has utilized a Blanket Purchase Agreement and awarded the subject order to Premier Data Services. Below is a decription of the requirement. The BLM maintains thousands of historic vital records of public land ownership in Montana. These records contain copies of original documents that have been microfilmed and are currently stored as a collection of microfilm aperture cards referred to as the Control Document Index (CDI). The BLM, Montana State Office has only one set of these aging microfilm aperture cards that are cumbersome to research and are not backed up in a digital format. The cards contain images of records that date back to the mid-1800s and include copies of patents and deeds that convey title of public lands to and from the United States. The purpose of this project is to scan up to 1,416,660 land status records from these micro-graphic copies of legal documents mounted on aperture cards. Current funding is only available for approximately 363,063 CDI Cards to be scanned. These records are within the states of Montana and the Dakotas and include townships identified as having existing renewable energy applications/authorizations or high renewable energy potential. This project will enable the BLM to more efficiently evaluate right of way applications and permits for renewable energy or other projects in a more efficient and timely manner; thereby saving the public and the BLM time in the land use application process. This will also improve the automation and quality assurance of BLMs current land status information.
