- Description
- The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is planning to issue a Request for Proposals for residential energy systems research. This Solicitation is in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building America program. Building America forms research partnerships with all facets of the residential building industry to improve the quality and energy efficiency of existing and new homes. The goal is to develop cost effective solutions that reduce the average energy use of housing by 40% to 100%. Research activities will focus on the development of reliable systems that dramatically reduce energy use in existing and new homes. The selected subcontractors will be required to use a multidisciplinary, team-based research approach. Subject to the availability of funds, NREL anticipates awarding up to fifteen (15) Task Ordering Agreements each with a period of performance of five (5) years. Firm, fixed price task orders, each with a period of performance of one (1) year, will be issued under the Task Ordering Agreements. It is anticipated that initial funding for task orders under each Task Ordering Agreement will be in the range of $500k to $2.5M for the first year, with possible funding of up to $5M for each subsequent year. Price participation of at least 20% will be required for each task order award. The Request for Proposals, which will include detailed information on the requested proposal scope, evaluation criteria, and proposal due date, will be posted on the NREL website at http://www.nrel.gov/business_opportunities/solicitations_rfps.html in mid-April, 2010.
