Description
The USGS requests a frequency domain helicopter electromagnetic survey of the area around Ft Yukon Alaska for the investigation of permafrost. These data are intended for 1-D and 2-D numerical inversion to determine the 3-D extent of continuous and discontinuous permafrost within the study area. These data will be used to create a hydrological framework to be input into a groundwater model for the investigation of potential global change impacts within the Yukon Flats. The USGS requires a system that is well suited for near surface investigations and has the capability for recording multiple frequencies from 140k Hz down to 400 Hz. The system must also be capable of differentiating resistive units within electrically resistive areas. The data must be well calibrated and corrected for any system response and drift. These data will provide the basis for the use of HEM in further investigations of permafrost. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and facilities, required for conducting a frequency domain helicopter electromagnetic (HEM-FDEM) and magnetic survey of the permafrost area in Alaska. The contractor shall provide digitally recorded and processed airborne data. An example of recently flown data shall be submitted with each offeror's quotation. The goal of this survey is to provide high quality data that will produce Conductivity-Depth Images (CDI's) of the subsurface. This data set is to be used for geological framework studies and is not a simple conductive target mapping exercise. The data collected shall be of such quality that they can be calibrated and inverted. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to perform the above mentioned services. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required services or its functional equivalent (based on criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement within three (3) calendar days from date of this notification. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required services state herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exists. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request
