Description
Peptides are central to numerous research efforts at the Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) due to their extensive sequence landscape, chemical diversity and broad range of functionality. There are currently five on-going research projects which require peptide synthesis with additional project anticipated. The Government expects this need for peptide synthesis to continue for a number of years. To date, each project has identified the need for peptide synthesis work as it occurs; and separate orders/contracts have been awarded for peptide synthesis. With the modification to the procurement procedures, the past approach has become time consuming leading to delays which has been impeding progress to individual projects. This Request for Information should be considered an open call for providing the government peptide synthesis needs. The Government requires two general classes of peptide synthesis: (1) linear peptide synthesis; and (2) cyclized peptide synthesis. Additionally, the Government may require peptide arrays. This performance-based service contract incorporates the following performance objectives: (1) Synthesize peptides with specified sequence and purity (2) adherence to contract schedule, milestone, and delivery requirements, and (3) efficient and effective cost control. The contractor's primary focus shall be to synthesize peptides based on the Governments specified sequence and purity. The specific sequence, purity and quanity for each delivery order will be include on the individual delivery order. All peptide synthesis shall include reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and Mass Spectrometry analysis. A certificate of analysis shall be required with each shipment. In addition, peptide arrays will require peptides to be uncoupled, in individual containers with a purification step. It is the contractors responsibility to employ the necessary resources to ensure accomplishment of these objectives. The government expects some face-to-face contact to ensure some specific requirement are understood and successfully accomplished, therefore we are looking for contractors who are local to the NSRDEC.
