- Description
- The USGS is seeking small business sources to provide an airborne geophysical survey of portions of Afghanistan using (but not limited to) electromagnetic (EM), magnetic, radiometric, and gravimetric methods. These data are intended for 1-D and 2-D numerical inversion to determine the 3-D extent of mineralized zones within the study area. These data will be used to create a geological framework to be input into a regional assessment of Afghanistan. The USGS requires a platform that is well suited for near surface investigations and has the capability for recording electromagnetic, magnetic, radiometric, and gravimetric data. These data will provide the basis for the use of airborne-based geophysics in further investigations of Afghanistan. All equipment shall be calibrated according to manufacturer's specifications and all data shall be tested and corrected for any system response, drift, and aircraft noise. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, facilities, and an aircraft capable of slow climbs and descents. A pre-planned draped flight surface will be required and a description of the method used. The contractor shall provide digitally recorded and processed data. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to perform the above mentioned services. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required services or its functional equivalent (based on criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required services stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if there are small businesses with these capabilities. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request.
