WRDA 1996 Phase I, Sites L8 and R8 at Guy West Bridge at California State University Sacramento. Site L8 is located at the south end of the Guy West Bridge and site R8 is located at the north end of Guy West Bridge, Sacramento, California. This project is a construction project involving installation of cement-bentonite slurry walls at both sites to close gaps in the existing levee. The work includes working on top of the levee on each side of a suspension bridge near the bridge abutments and anchor blocks. The work will include removal of 24 to 48 inches of the levee crown, storing of material at the staging areas, installation of the slurry walls to minimum depths of 65 feet, protection in place of existing utilities, and rebuilding of the levee crowns. Work also includes dealing with cobbles/gravels in the levee during construction, preparing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and maintaining Best Management Practices (BMPs) during and after construction, and dealing with local municipal and resource agencies. The slurry wall will be constructed to a hydraulic permeability of 5 x 10-6 cm/sec. It is anticipated that the Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued on or about April 7, 2010.
