- The Naval Medical Logistics Command intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.106-1) with Olympus America Inc., 3500 Corporate Parkway, Center Valley PA 18034, as the only responsible source that can provide three headed and four headed microscope system accessories to coordinate with Olympus microscopes. This acquisition is being conducted under the FAR 13.5 test procedures for commercial items. Provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-24 are incorporated. The Naval Medical Logistics Command has a requirement for 2 four-headed microscope systems with cameras and 14 three-headed microscope systems with cameras for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda. Only Olympus can provide 2 four-headed microscope systems with cameras and 14 three-headed microscope systems with cameras that are compatible with the installed base of Olympus microscopes which have an enhanced quality of ergonomics. NNMC Bethesda has roughly $700K worth of Olympus microscopes currently being used. Items being purchased in this acquisition: UYCP-11; US Style 3-Prong Power Cord (32) WHN10X-1-3; 10X Eyepiece for BX, IX HI Eyepnt, Retshelf, FN:22 (68) WHN10X-H-1-3; 10X Eyepiece, FOC.BX, IS HI EPNT, Retshelf, FN:2 (36) JC12V100WHAL-L; 12V, 100W Halogen Bulb, BHS, AH2/3, U-LH, AX-LH (32) U-TV0.63XC; CCD Camera Adapter, ).63X Lens, C-Mount Thread (16) This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures. There are no set-aside restrictions for this requirement. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 339112 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice shall submit technical data, including cost, sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product. All capability statements received by closing of this notification of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Based on the above information, the only technically acceptable system is provided by Olympus America, Inc.
