- Description
- The Regional Mission for Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus (hereinafter referred to as USAID) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the AgroInvest project to accelerate broad-based economic recovery through a more inclusive and competitive agricultural industry. The AgroInvest project will lead to: (1) less volatile and more market-oriented agricultural policies resulting in increased investments; (2) sustainable access to financial services for small and medium producers; (3) more effective market infrastructure for small and medium producers. Component one of the project, "support a stable, market-oriented policy environment " will work to ensure that agricultural policies are less volatile and more market-oriented leading to increased investments. The component will also strengthen the organizations that shape these policies while better insuring the rights of rural populations. Component two, "stimulate access to finance," will stimulate sustainable access to financial services for small and medium producers. Given the absence of financial institutions committed to expanding agricultural lending, interventions in this component need to be facilitated around a number of promising opportunities that will benefit small and medium producers. Partnerships should be sought with financial service providers, as well as other actors in the value chain, such as input suppliers and buyers. Component three, "facilitate market infrastructure for small and medium producers," will work to create a more effective market infrastructure for small and medium producers. More effective agricultural market infrastructure will help: (1) agricultural producers to increase profitability of farming and (2) SMPs to access markets.
