- Description
- PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PDF BAA 100339 FOR COMPLETE DETAILS The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport hereby solicits proposals through the use of a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) (see FAR 35.016) for a state-of-the-art "adaptable telemetry" approach that: (1) can accommodate both high frequency (HF) and medium frequency (MF) Submarine sonar hull arrays with very large numbers of channels; (2) requires a minimum of application/sensor specific tailoring to maintain performance; and (3) employs open systems/commercial standards to facilitate multi-vendor and foreign source integration. Telemetry is defined as electronics and associated packaging and interconnection between the output of the acoustic sonar array sensor elements and the inboard processors. Telemetry includes, but may not be limited to the following: analog and digital signal conditioning, data transport and concentration, physical interconnect, and all associated power distribution. This BAA seeks innovative architectures for adaptable telemetry. Submissions should address the performance areas indentified in Section 1.3 to design an adaptable telemetry architecture with broad applicability to HF and MF submarine hull arrays. Performance tradeoffs within and between areas should be considered. Submissions should also address a detailed design that conforms to the proposed telemetry architecture to demonstrate a specific hull array application. Telemetry architecture is defined as the abstract conceptual design that defines the structure and behavior of hull array telemetry systems. A detailed design that conforms to the architecture is defined as an instantiation. Submissions should emphasize open systems/commercial standards as this adaptable telemetry will be integrated with multiple domestic vendor and/or foreign sourced acoustic sonar arrays and inboard processors.
