- Description
- FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY - This contract modification provides Recovery Act (ARRA) funding to renovate the NIDDK Biosample Repository. The space required for the number of samples to be sent to the Repository is not sufficient and thus the Repository will need to undergo an expansion of repository capabilities requiring installation of new scientific equipment. This contract modification expansion could include demolition, HVAC upgrades, for freezers, modification of the sprinkler, freezer alarm monitoring as well as electric installation. This project will allow the Repository to continue its key mission, which is to collect, store and distribute samples from the NIDDK's major, multi-site clinical studies. By having a central collection, the NIDDK leverages the value of its major studies by making the resources created by those studies available to many other investigators. NOTE: Fisher Bioservices DUNS is 16-115-7953. NOTE: This action is not fixed price. The contract is cost reimbursable because the complexity required to coordinate, maintain, and manage a National Biosample Repository depends on variables that are unknown prior to contract performance. Neither the Government nor the contractor are able to estimate the exact price with any reasonable degree of certainty. Because of the unknown variables of the work, a fixed price contract could not be negotiated and award of a cost-reimbursement type contract modification is appropriate.
