- CONTINUUM DYNAMICS, INC. PRE-AWARD NOTICE FOR ARRA:RECOVERY ACT THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. CONTINUUM DYNAMICS,INC. OF TRENTON, NJ WAS PROVIDED A SOLE-SOURCE AWARD AS AUTHORIZED BY STATUE.NASA Glenn Research Center has committed support for specific efforts under the AmericanRecovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.Recovery Act funds for NASAs AeronauticsResearch Program will accelerate key research, enhance the state of aeronautics for thenation, and expand the viable and well-informed trade space for vehicle design decisionsand enable simultaneous realization of National noise, emissions, and performance goals. The specific area of support for this work, per NASAs Recovery Act Program Plan forAeronautics Research, is to develop and mature vehicle concepts to assess the viabilityof promising technologies such as tilt-rotors for heavy-lift rotorcraft,blended-wing-body shaping, imbedded/podded propulsion, open high-speed rotors, lowemission combustors, low noise/vibration rotor-wings, advanced structures, and laminarflow and to design, develop, and test aircraft engine ultra-high bypass (UHB) componenttechnology hardware.NASA Glenn Research Center intends to issue a contract entitled 'Development of a ShapeMemory Alloy Variable Area Nozzle for the design and fabrication of a variable areanozzle benchtop demonstration model for the fan, or bypass, section of a gas turbineengines very high bypass turbofan. The design will utilize shape memory alloytechnology and would serve as a multidisciplinary research tool. The proposal wassubmitted in response to a NASA request and is a sole-source award made via the NASA SBIRProgram. This effort will be performed at Continuum Dynamics, Inc. authorized under the AmericanRecovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
