Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS), as the data owner, requires testing and demonstration of components to augment an existing Wide Area Network (WAN) fabric for serving production data to the National Geospatial Technical Operations Centers (NGTOC) in Rolla, MO and Denver, CO. The required component for testing and demonstration is a single WAN Accelerator with integrated software components that meets the needs of EROS Data Center. This action is for testing purposes only. Vendors will be required to provide equipment for testing in Sioux Falls, SD at no cost to the Government. This WAN Accelerator equipment will be required to communicate with existing Riverbed Steelhead 6050 WAN Accelerator equipment located at USGS facilities in Rolla MO and Denver, CO. The equipment provided by the vendor for testing in Sioux Falls is not and will not be considered property of the US Government and must be free of any malicious code. The Contractor shall assist site technical points of contact with inspection of the test equipment, scheduling of installation, and verifying the installation. All test components delivered shall remain boxed as delivered until the vendor is present or gives permission to unpackage. Installation will include: - Mounting devices in equipment racks provided by the government as identified by site technical points of contact- Connection and configuration of the devices on the LAN as directed by site technical points of contact.- Verification of install operating correctly.- Transferring installation knowledge to site technical points of contact and project manager.- Training of EROS employees on device management, operation, and configuration. Once the test equipment is installed the testing period is not to exceed 30 days. EROS will request services after all test hardware components have arrived onsite. EROS requires that the contractor acknowledge the request for services within one working day. Acknowledgement need be nothing more than a phone conversation between an EROS IT Specialist and contractor's representative, in which the contractor representative states an estimate as to when vendor's personnel will arrive on site to begin installation of the test equipment. After installation and configuration is completed the contractor shall work with the technical points of contact to insure the installed test components are fully functional and will interface and operate appropriately with EROS, Rolla and Denver systems for the period of the test. After assurance of installation and configuration, the contractor will assure training is provided to allow a minimal number of personnel on site at EROS to operate the equipment appropriately through the test period. All components shall meet or exceed the following minimum specifications:-Compatible with existing Riverbed Steelhead 6050 already deployed at NGTOC sites in Rolla, MO and Denver, CO.-Compatible with existing network equipment-Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS) software-19" rack mountable, EROS to provide rack -Shall support storage requirements of existing servers running the Solaris 10, Microsoft Windows, and Linux operating systems on the network Government shall ensure that the following is available and functional to the contractor prior to arriving on site:-Necessary power in the computer room as requested by the contractor-EROS network administrator for making connections into the organization's LAN. Government shall also provide contractor with a clean, safe working environment for contractor personnel while they are on-site at EROS. Government shall provide access to facilities and to the printers as needed. Government will aid if needed, but not interfere with, contractor personnel. The Government will also provide access to telephone and other amenities that the contractor might require to accomplish their tasks. Testing of vendor furnished equipment with existing Riverbed Steelhead 6050 in Rolla, MO and Denver, CO. Contractor shall also provide a statement of services describing the actions required to install and configure each WAN component. All travel, testing time, and any other expenses in relation to the requested testing services will be performed at NO COST to the Government. Testing equipment must be Free of Malicious Code. **Any company who believes they are capable of demonstrating a WAN accelerator and performing the requested testing services at NO COST to the Government in accordance with the specification of this announcement, please email your Company's Name, Contact Information, and brand and model of the accelerator device you will be testing and demonstrating to jenglehart@usgs.gov no later than 11:00 AM EST, Monday, April 26, 2010.
