Description
This is a Sources Sought Synopsis. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach. This synopsis should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose. This Sources Sought Synopsis is a market survey being conducted by the St. Louis District, Corps of Engineers to identify Small Business firms for potential awards as prime contractors to fabricate complete, deliver, and install a welded structural steel miter gate used for a navigation lock. The miter gate measures 61 feet wide by 72 feet high and 6 feet deep. The approximate weight is 485,000 lbs. Fabrication must be in accordance with American Welding Society Bridge Welding Code (AWS D1.5). Fabricator and fabricating facility must be experienced in large steel structure fabrication and must be certified under the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification program for Major Steel Bridges with Fracture Critical and Sophisticated Paint endorsements. Miter gate must be fabricated complete at the fabrication facility and delivered by barge to Locks 27 located on the Mississippi river near St. Louis. Installation by the prime contractor or a qualified sub-contractor of the miter gate will follow the approximate 18 month fabrication effort. One contract is planned for solicitation and award. A solicitation has not been issued as of this posting and when issued will be posted on FEDBIZOPS. Request a list and points of contact for at least three customers that your firm provided fabrication of similar miter gates in our search for technically qualified, experienced fabricators and installation prime contractor experience. The government will not pay for any information that is submitted by respondents to this Sources Sought Synopsis. The Government requests interested firms submit one (1) copy of their business size, CCR registration, Point of Contact, capability, and experience response no later than 2:00 p.m., Central Standard Time, on May 07, 2010. Information should not exceed 5 one-sided, 8.5 X 11 inch pages, with the font no smaller than 10 point, to the following address: Contracting Division, Attn: Archie Ringgenberg, St Louis District, Corps of Engineers, Room 4.207, 1222 Spruce Street, St Louis, Missouri, 63103-2833, fax will be accepted to 314-331-8746 or email to Archie.C.Ringgenberg@usace.army.mil.
