- Notice of Intent: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Des Moines intends to award to the Marriott Hotel a commercial purchase order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures for a breakfast buffet for their guests that are registered attendees of the 24th National Veterans Golden Age Games scheduled for May 26, 2010 through May 31, 2010. The National Veterans Golden Age Games is the premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States, and the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors' competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. The proposed action is for buffet breakfast that will be served at the Des Moines Marriott to guests that are also registered attendees of the National Veterans Golden Age Games. The Government believes that there is only one responsible source and no other sources can satisfy the agency's requirement. A Justification for Other than Full and Open competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action is solely within the discretion of the Government. The anticipated award date is May 10, 2010. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code is 722212; with a small business size standard of $7 million.
