- Description
- RECOVERY - PER FAR 5.7 THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY; THEREFORE FAR 5.203 DOES NOT APPLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY WAS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTOR(S) UNDER THE CURRENT CONTRACT NUMBER(S): Upper Mississippi River Restoration, IL, IA, MN, MO & WI DEPICTING RIVER AND FLOODPLAIN GIS/HYDRODYNAMIC MODEL Task Order CD01; Pool 8 of the Upper Mississippi River, including the floodplain depicting river and floodplain habitat features using GIS Landscape data and hydrodynamic modeling; Pool 8 is located in the States of WI (counties Vernon, La Crosse) & MN (Houston, Winona)The US Army Corps of Engineers intends to issue Task Order CD01 under Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity W912ES-07-D-0005. The works includes development of these models requires capability in fluid dynamics, hydraulics, hydrology, river geomorphology, and computer engineering. This work will expand and extend recent hydrodynamic modeling work conducted by the University of Iowa Institute for Hydraulic R esearch (IIHR) utilizing MIKE 21 and FLUENT models. This project will use newly acquired floodplain elevation and bathymetry data, collected by the Corps Environmental Management Program (EMP), the recently developed seamless digital elevation data layer for Pool 8 developed by USGS-UMESC, and will expand the range of conditions and landscape elements included in previous models. The model will dynamically simulate movement of water over the landscape (including beyond bank full), based on a sequence of daily discharges and rules for dam operations, and predict the distribution, abundance, and dynamics of habitat features through time. This modeling framework will be built on standard physical data (land elevation, land cover, daily discharge) such that similar models can be developed at any location within the system where those data are available.
