Description
(Subject Continued) the Harry S. Truman Project down stream left and right bank levees. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment and transportation necessary to clear all woody vegetation (including vines, briars, shrubs, and brush) from an area extending from the toe of the RIVER side of the levee back a distance of ten (10) feet. All stump and stub cuts shall be horizontal (to preclude sharp stubs) and shall be cut as close to the ground as possible. In no case shall any cut stumps or stubs exceed four (4) inches in height. There will be numerous desirable (pecan, oak and ash) trees marked with paint that shall be left uncut. At the edge of the newly cleared area, all limbs shall be removed from the standing timber to a height of seven (7) feet. The contractor shall return to any area not accessible due to high water or wet conditions when conditions allow the work to be completed. The area on the left bank levee between the two metal gates can be sprayed with an approved brush killer for the removal of the honeysuckle vine only. All cut woody vegetation shall be removed from the job site to a location, if desired, to an area provided by the government. The government provided location is located in the Shawnee Bend Public Use Area, which would require transporting cut woody vegetation approximately a distance of six (6) miles or less. The contractor also may elect to chip the cut woody vegetation; chips may be hauled away or shall be blown to the land side of the levee. Wood chips shall not be left in piles exceeding four (4) inches.
