- Description
- The Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) is seeking technical information for a new, simultaneous DSC-TGA (Differential Scanning Calorimeter-Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer). The simultaneous DSC-TGA is required to include the following at a minimum: (i) capability of measuring both reliable weight change (TGA), and true differential heat flow (DSC) on the same sample from ambient to 1500oC. (ii) This equipment should have a horizontal dual beam design that support precise TGA and DSC measurements without thermal drift and baseline correction. The horizontal dual (2) balance mechanism (one for the sample and one for the reference), and a horizontal purge gas system with digital mass flow control and integral gas switching capability, are needed to minimize weight drift due to thermal expansion and the buoyancy effect of the purge gas. (iii) The TGA sensitivity of 0.1 micrograms and the DSC sensitivity of 4 microwatts are needed for detection of weak transitions in small samples of polymeric materials. (iv) The heat flow axis must be calibrated using sapphire as the calibrant over temperature range from ambient to 1500oC. (v) Efficient furnace cooling, from 1500oC to 50oC in less than 30 minutes, is required for sample throughput. (vi) The DSC-TGA must come with software for instrument control to tare, start, and modify or stop a run in progress. (vii) The software should provide the ability to plot and do data analysis, and should be compatible with our existing thermal analysis systems from TA Instruments. (viii)An USA manufacturer is required for the TGA-DSC to reduce parts and repair costs, and the risk of damage from shipping and handling. This Request for Information should be considered an open call for providing the governments simultaneous DSC-TGA thermal equipment needs. This RFI is solely for information purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or the issuance thereof. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Any information submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the government for such information. Any information/samples submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the government for such samples. Responses to this notice are to be sent to Pearl Yip, ATTN: RDNS-WSC-M, 15 Kansas St., Natick, MA 01760-5019. This notice is for market survey only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. POC for this request is Pearl Yip (pearl.yip@us.army.mil). Email your questions to US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center at pearl.yip@us.army.mil. Please submit your response with the following information: 1. Company information: a. Name, b. CAGE code, c. background description, and d. qualifications 2. Point of contact: a. name, b. email, and c. telephone number
