- Description
- The contactor shall provide board certified or board eligible physicians to provide comprehensive neurosurgery services to the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) in Reno, NV. Services include the full range of neurosurgery medical and/or surgical care for VA beneficiaries including pre and post operative diagnosis, surgical intervention, post-op care, and education of VA patients with neurosurgery type disorders. The term 'comprehensive Neurosurgery' is defined as all services required in the delivery of neurosurgery treatments. This would include, but is not limited to, the initial evaluation, treatment planning, simulation, dosimetry, treatment devices, special services, and clinical treatment management to include follow-up care associated with the course of treatment. The services required will be a full range of neurosurgical services and consultation for both inpatient and outpatient episodes of care. All medications, prescriptions, or prosthetic equipment that is prescribed for the patient are to be filled at VASNHCS. All laboratory studies, radiographic exams, or other diagnostic studies needed for the treatment of VA beneficiaries are to be performed by the VA unless; (1) the VA does not have the capability to perform a required diagnostic test, (2) the VA is unable to provide services for a particular complex surgical procedure, or (3) emergency surgery or comprehensive care would require the movement of the patient from the VA for care to a non-VA site. In these instances, the VA Chief of Surgery or Chief of Staff or his/her designee is to be notified and approved prior to services being rendered.
