- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS (Not a Notice of Solicitation) The United States Air Force, 88th Air Base Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio is seeking potential sources to repair and realign the existing Pegasus detector system (integrated Orientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM) and EDAX Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS)) which is attached to an FEI Company Quanta Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). This repair and realignment are required to accommodate simultaneous OIM and EDAX EDS imaging of large samples. Firms responding should specify how they meet the technical specifications provided below and provide detailed information to show clear technical compliance. Additionally, sales history including recent commercial companies sold to should be included to determine commerciality. The requirement specifications are as follows: 1. Ability to realign the Pegasus Detector System components (OIM and EDS detectors) to 25mm working distance. 2. Access to Pegasus software to make required modifications. 3. Simultaneous upgrade and alignment of Apollo EDS detector (separate form 9) portion of Pegasus system. The Air Force anticipates eventually conducting a competitive acquisition for this award. All interested firms shall submit information demonstrating their capabilities to quickly produce the system within a short/urgent time-frame. Firms responding should indicate whether they are, or are not, a small business, a socially and economically disadvantaged business, or a woman owned business. The general definition of a small business is one that is independently owned and operated, is not dominant in the field of operation in which it is proposing on Air Force contracts and with its affiliates; and the annual revenue does not exceed $7,000,000. NAICS Code to be used for this acquisition is 811219. The Air Force reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside based upon responses hereto for any subsequent acquisition. Respondents are further requested to indicate their status as a Foreign-owned/Foreign-controlled firm and any contemplated use of foreign national employees on this effort. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. The Air Force does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Respondents should not construe this synopsis as a commitment by the Air Force for any purpose.
