- USFS Firewatch Helicopter The USDA Forest Service (FS) is seeking sources that can provide maintenance on two USDA Forest Service Government-owned Bell 209 de-militarized Cobra helicopters that are currently located at two Government facilities in Redding, CA and Lancaster, CA. There are two maintenance periods that will be addressed, a mandatory availability period (field season) and an off- season (heavy winter maintenance as ordered by the Government). Off season maintenance will be performed at the Forest Service hanger facility located in Redding, Ca. Field Service repair work will normally be performed in various locations in the field. Maintenance services shall include the full realm of aircraft inspections, maintenance, and repair to include avionics that are specific to the aircraft and equipment. Maintenance services are for the scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance and line services for the Government-owned aircraft. These services may include, but are not limited to inspection, repair, alteration, installation or modification, refurbishment, overhaul, and painting of aircraft. The maintenance service will also include the purchase, installation and rebuilding of aircraft parts, engine components, avionics and accessories. The contract will also include a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Technician (GDT). The GDT will performs cartographic design and production tasks using computers, advanced specialty software and techniques associated with (GIS), global positioning systems and advances in remote sensing including Infrared IR. The GDT serves as the remote processor of data from the aircraft to the Incident Management Team. This anticipated contract period will be for a one base year with four option years.
