Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Spokane Research Laboratory, hereby announces its intent to issue a purchase order to Trent Spendrup Corporation for a Starter, 1256 HP, 460V, VFD, for a Spendrup 1250 Series fan, powered by 480V, 93kW (125 HP) permissible motor. Section 11 of the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006 (MINER Act) (Public Law 109-236) created a Technical Study Panel to study the utilization of belt air and the composition of fire retardant properties of belt materials in underground coal mining. The Panel's final report recommended research to improve ventilation in mines using belt air for face ventilation. One of the suggested research areas was use of booster fans in underground coal mines. The research Section 11 of the mine Improvement and new Emergency Response Act of 2006 (group has identified a permissible booster fan for testing at the mine site. The ability to vary the airflow of the fan easily during field testing requires a variable frequency drive.
