Description
This pre solicitation synopsis will provide backup power to mission criticalcommunications systems in the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM)Area of Responsibility (AOR). The proposed procurement is for the operations,maintenance, installation, and procurement of Backup Power Systems forCommunication Systems Support in Southwest Asia (SWA). This requirementhas been developed in response to requests by United States Air Force CentralCommand (USAFCENT) and United States Army Central Command (USARCENT)to ensure C4I communication systems are available to forward deployed forcessupporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Operations Iraqi Freedom andcontinuing mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD).Backup Power systems are used in hardened and transportable configurations.Hardened configurations consist of large facility-type UPSs and are installedinhardened facilities at bases where U.S. presence is ongoing or long-term, suchas command centers. Transportable configurations are mobile, containerizedUPSs with backup generators and are deployed at locations in Iraq andAfghanistan supporting mobile communications systems and can be relocatedto support troop movements and surges.UPS are complex systems with unique configurations controls with built-inproprietary software. Each UPS system requires access to proprietary software,manufacturer,technical support, and firmware updates/releases.
