- Description
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking informationthrough this Request for Information (RFI) to identify, improve and/or enhance approachesthat will demonstrate the targeted technologies described in this RFI.NASA has definedsix (6) targeted technologies that are to be demonstrated via spaceflight in support ofthe Flagship Technology Demonstration (FTD) effort. Towards this end, four (4) Point ofDeparture (POD) missions have been identified. While emphasis in the responses shouldaddress the existing POD missions, alternate approaches may be suggested in order to moreefficiently demonstrate the selected technologies. For purposes of this RFI, allresponders should consider the set of technologies fixed, and provide input on theappropriate missions to demonstrate those technologies. This RFI is open to responsesfrom all commercial entities, international organizations, academia, NASA Centers andother government agencies. Sections 3-8 of this RFI seek input on how to perform aspecific mission in a more optimum manner (cost effective and efficient). Section 9seeks input on how to put the missions together in a different manner to obtain a better(e.g. more efficient and cost effective) demonstration of the capability.NASA RFI # NNH10ZTT003L, entitled 'Flagship Technology Demonstrations,' will be availableelectronically on or about May 17, 2010, by opening the NASA Research Opportunitieshomepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and then linking through the menu listings'Solicitations' to 'Open Solicitations'. Responses to the RFI must be submitted electronically via NASAs proposal data system,NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES)(http://nspires.nasaprs.com). All responses are due on June 11, 2010. Eachelectronic application places requirements on the registration of responders and otherparticipants (e.g. co-investigators). Potential responders are urged to access NSPIRES inadvance of the due date to familiarize themselves with its structure and enter therequested information. Questions concerning responding to this RFI may be addressed tothe contacts referenced in the RFI.
