It also develops or adapts a classroom observation measure, observer training materials, and associated teacher interview on 4th (and possibly 5th) grade math instruction to be used in a future impact study of teacher professional development in math. There is one option that includes four tasks (Tasks 14 through 17) for a pilot study of the measures developed in the base contract that will be conducted on a subset of districts participating in the teacher distribution study. The primary purpose of this study is to document the distribution of teacher quality within districts over time and any changes in that distribution associated with district strategies to promote an equitable distribution of teachers.
