Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for 1 each, Smart Driver II and 1 each p/n PTT111-8Deformable Mirror.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Iris OA only. Market research has shownthat the Iris OA is the only company that currently manufactures commercially - availablehexagonal segments MEMS mirrors. Furthermore, it is essential to acquire driveelectronics for the deformable mirror from Iris OA. The drive electronics arespecifically designed to match the voltage requirements and impedances of this particularmirror. This custom calibration includes safety-level information that will preventoverdriving and damaging the morror from the software interface. The ability to safelycontrol the mirror in an open-loop mode is essential for our experiment and cannot bereplicated using third-party electronics.Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Only one responsible source.This procurement will be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisitions Procedures.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will theGovernment pay for the information solicited.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon June 7, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
