- Study of Transition Outcomes for Youth with Disabilities, Phase I The US Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences, anticipates the release of the subject solicitation on or about June 15, 2010. The Department is seeking offerors to conduct the first phase of a longitudinal study of transition services and outcomes for youth with disabilities. The PURPOSE of the study is to design, and gather data between 2011 and 2014 on, a nationally representative sample of 15,000 youth, ages 13 to 21, from 300 school districts, including between 10,000 and 12,000 youth identified for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004, P.L. 108-446). The study shall gather administrative and survey data to describe these youth in terms of their characteristics, receipt of services and accommodations during and after secondary school, and educational, social, and economic outcomes. The study shall also examine variations in characteristics, service receipt, and outcomes across time between comparable cohorts of youth with disabilities, and between youth identified for special education and other youth enrolled in the same school districts in December 2011. The Department anticipates the period of performance for this contract will be 60 months.
