Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR ELECTRONFLOOD GUNS. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions that were asked about therequirement.Question:Line Item 1:Our understanding of the Beam Coverage and Uniformity Requirements for Line Item 1: There must be a 20 inch diameter coverage area at a 60 inch working distance with lessthan 15% difference across the majority of this area. If there is overshooting of the required 20 inch diameter area, this outlying coveragemust be less than 20% different across the entire region. Is this correct? Must the coverage area be circular? Can there be overshooting of the beam with the uniformity requirements still met?The 20 inch diameter area would be reached with beam washing [beam wobbling].Answer: Yes, there should be < 15% difference in uniformity across a 20 degree cone(which works out to the 20 diameter). Outside of that area the uniformity should bewithin 20% (actually the spec reads 20% within a 30 degree cone). So 15% within the 20inches and no more than 20% within approximately 32. Circular coverage? Does not have to be circular coverage but must cover a 20 circle at60 working distance. As long as the uniformity requirement is met, overshooting is permissible.Question: Line Item 2:Just to double check, is the Beam Coverage Uniformity (Homogeneity) requirement >50%?Answer: Item 2Yes, the uniformity must be greater than 50% across the coverage area. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to June 2, 2010.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on May 19, 2010.
