- The VA Network 22 Logistic Office intends to enter into sole source procurement with Carl Zeiss Meditec. This proposed contract action is being conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, incorporates provisions and clauses as those in effect. This procurement is for a Carl Zeiss Surgical Microscope System. The Carl Zeiss surgical microscope system is manufactured by Carl Zeiss Meditec and is a two headed surgical teaching microscope. The VA San Diego does not have a teaching microscope in inventory, and the Carl microscope system is required to demonstrate surgical techniques to trainees. The Zeiss microscope was chosen over comparable Leica and Olympus surgical teaching microscopes because of its superior optics technology Opmi Pico, and technoscope with 0-180 inclinable binocular tube system on table mounting bracket. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely by the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
