- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), Region 3, Division of Construction and Acquisition at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota, intends to procure on a sole-source basis with Komatsu America Corporation, Rolling Meadows, Illinois a PC35MR-3 mini-excavator. This mini-excavator is necessary to break up and remove beaver dam obstructions on various wetlands under Service management. The removal of these types of obstructions is inherently hard on tracks of equipment. This piece of equipment is equipped with multi-segment steel frame tracks with bolt-on composite track pads that allow for replacement of damaged segments at a minimal cost compared to the cost a whole track replacement. The maximum digging reach and digging depth of the equipment is also critical with this type of work for safety reasons. In addition the ability to angle the equipment blade is a necessary component. The combination of these specific features is necessary for enhanced equipment performance and safety.
