Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District intends to award a contract to a supplier of Freeman Brand Marine Hatches for use onboard the Wilmington District's foating plants. This sole source award is in the Government's best interest because the Freeman brand marine hatches are the only direct replacement hatches for the Wilmington District's floating plants. To change to another manufacturer's hatches would require changes in the configuration of the floating plants, hulls, framework, and the warehousing of additional spare parts at an estimated cost that would exceed the cost of acquiring the Freeman brand hatches as specified by this requirement. Authority Cited: 10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1), FAR 6.303-2(a)(4), Only one responsible source (brand name) and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
