The technology is now available to sequence completely the DNA of the entire genome of a Pima Indian to compare with whole-genome DNA sequences from other ethnic groups and to use to identification of DNA sequences (and genes) that are the cause(s) of the greatlyincreased prevalence of diabetes among the Pima Indians.
