Participate in clinical team meetings to discuss vestibular and exercise evaluation findings and recommendations on an as-needed basis. Research Duties: The incumbent will design, carry out, obtain funding and write for publication the results of original experiments on exercise, cerebral blood flow, and vestibular function in veterans. To do this, he will seek funding at the national level and, when such funding is received, he will design experiments, collect and analyze data and prepare said data for publication in the scientific literature. As part of this effort, his duties will include recruitment, training and supervision of support personnel as well as overseeing and solving problems reported to him by research support staff. The incumbent will have educational duties, which will be both formal and informal. The informal duties will be to teach technical methods to research support personnel, and to other VA researchers. Designs the study records to be used by research technicians for data collection. Manages implementation, control and reporting on research tests by research technicians. Oversees and manages data collection and monitoring protocols for complex research studies. Trains technical staff in physiological recordings and behavioral testing required for any particular study. Monitors whether the proper administration of tests and measurements required by project design are being conducted by the research staff. Receives collected data from research staff, and utilizes descriptive and inferential statistics to derive conclusions. Identifies test results and trends requiring further analysis. Maintains data records, prepares in-depth statistical reports to be presented in the peer-review public forum. Performs oral and written dissemination of research program and current results in the form of national and international conventions and publications in peer-reviewed research journals. Assures research compliance with all research data collected, analyzed, and disseminated for public review. Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of these research programs, attaining the proposed goals of each research program, completing all continuing reviews of these research programs as well as the creation of subsequent research programs.
