- Description
- Water Conservation-Well, Mod Irrigation System. Issue: The Miami Job Corps Center has two lawn sprinkler irrfation systems that currently water the lawns at the Center. The two systems are a Domestic Line Sprinkler system (DLS) and a Well Line Sprinkler system (WLS). The DLS system (connection to the local public water utility system) serves the central campus courtyard area and landscaping beds in proximity to the buildings. The WLS system (serviced by a local well) serve areas that are more remote from the building such as the ball field areas, portions of the parking area, and some areas at the perimeter araes of site. The continued use of the existing DLS system has caused enormous water usage over the years and the current sprinkler system does not comply with the upgrades required by the Miami-Dade Irrigation standards for new construction. BASE BID: The scope of this project is to provide a new drilled irrigation well to support the DLS system giving the Center the option of having a combination sprinkler system using well water when needed and the Domestic Line Sprinkler (City Water) if desired. The new irrigation well should be located as close as possible to the existing water service entarnce for the existing sprinkler system. Included in the installation shall be apump assembly that will provide adequate water pressure for the operation of the sprinkler system. The new irrigation well water shall be connected to the existing DLS system and piped and controlled by valves and the required control transfer switches to transfer irrigation operations from one water source to the other. The installation shall clearly identify which system is in operation and must provide the necessary shut-off controls to prevent the two systems from operating simultaneously. The irrigation well shall be installedc in accordance with the design standards of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). Obtain a water use permit and well ppermit from the SFWMD. The new well shall be connected to the existing irrigation system. Repair all damaged areas to the existing condition and replace with sod to match the existing grass type. The contractor must restore all drainage swales to provide positive water flow. Provide a one year warranty on all work performed and a two year warranty on pumps and controls. ADD ALTERNATE: Provide a separate cost for the irrigation upgarde of the existing DLS system (only) to comply with the Miami-Dade Irrigation standards for new construction. This would include sensor upgrades and other mechanical requirement necssary to up grade the existing DLS system. The proposal does not include the planting of plants and vegetation as specified in the standards. This will be undertaken by the Miami Job Corps Center. Included in this cost will be a one year warranty period on all installed or modified areas or sections of the sprinkler system and grounds. *Bids will be evaluated on the Base Bid only and not the Add Alternate.
