VA SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: James J. Peters VA Medical Center 130 West Kingsbridge Road Bronx, NY 10468 Contact Information: Bogdan Vaga Administrative Contracting Specialist Bogdan.vaga@va.gov THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS ANNOUNCMENT The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking qualified vendors who are capable of completing the following proposed project: Renovate & Replace Building 100 Elevators A.ITEM I, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION The work consists elevator upgrades to elevators 1 - 16 and the replacement of the OR sterile supply dumbwaiter in the building #100 at the James J. Peters Medical Center, at 130 West Kingsbridge Road. Bronx, New York 10468. 2.The work includes but is not limited to selective demolition, elevator renovations, minor interior finishes, and electrical work. 3.The elevator work includes remodeling of elevators S-1 thru S-6, P-7 thru P12, P-13 thru P-16 and the replacement of the OR sterile supply dumbwaiter. The new elevator work includes the removal of the existing pistons and cylinders and replacing with new pistons and PVC sealed cylinder protection with double bottom cylinder, cylinder protection plates, pressurization ports, evacuation ports, plunger stops, safety bulkhead evacuation tube and PVC end cap, that complies with ASME/ANSI A17.1 2000 code. The elevators to have new soft starters, motors, power unit, mufflers, valves, automatic self leveling, controllers, integral car operating panels, audible signal, car position indicators, "in Car" Directional lanterns, emergency car lighting, hall buttons, hall lanterns, hall position indicators, door operators, interlocks, Lambda 3d protection devices, car door hangers hoist way, door hangers, and new elevator cabs. The following elevator components will be retained; Existing capacity and travel distance, elevator speed, existing openings and stops will remain, power supply will stay the same. Car rails, car guides, care frame and platform frame will all remain. Electrical work will includes repairs to the existing generator problems. B.PHASING AND PHASING CONSTRAINTS: 1. The work will be phased in the following manner; one elevator cab per bank at a time (with about 10 weeks of elevator down time for each phase). 2. Access to the existing building will be limited to worker emergency egress only until substantial construction completion and access will only be permitted for connections to existing services and final removals of separation walls and doors when the new addition and alterations have been completed. This access must be coordinated with the Resident Engineer and as required and provided elsewhere in this document. Contract Completion Time: 780 Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed NAICS CODE: 238290 RANGE: $5,000,000 - $10,000,000 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The solicitation to the proposed project would be open to Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) as registered in www.ccr.gov and www.vetbiz.gov The solicitation would be proposed based upon favorable responses and interest from SDVOSBs that are or would be registered in www.ccr.gov and www.vetbiz.gov and https://orca.bpn.gov and https://vets100.ets.dol.gov by the time of the bid opening. Interested parties must send an e-mail to bogdan.vaga@va.gov The response date for this Sources Sought Notice is July 7th, 2010. In the e-mail, please list the following: 1)Company Name and Address of Company 2)Name of the Head of company and/or Management 3)A listing of up to three (3) similar elevator projects that the company has completed, including the year of the project, location of the project and the price of each project. The range of this proposed procurement is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The interested parties and eventual bidders must have the required bonding capacity for the Bid Bond and then the Performance and Payment Bonds. THIS IS ONLY AN ANNOUNCEMENT SEEKING SOURCES FOR A PROPOSED PROJECT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICIATION.
