- Solicitation - VA-259-10-RP-0171 Department of Veterans Affairs - VA Montana Healthcare System Posted: June 21, 2010 Due: August 3, 2010 POC: Contracting Specialist Elizabeth Taflan (406) 447-7644 The VA Montana HCS wishes to contract for the use of eye surgery facilities, surgery support staff (LPN, RN, etc) and limited Ophthalmologic (Emergent) care in the Missoula area. Facility and limited Ophthalmologic services could normally be required anytime during the Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm period, except on Federal Holidays. Procedures to perform at contractor facility may include: 1.Provisions for surgical cataract removal and, post op YAG laser capsulotomy and intraocular lens replacement. 2.Provisions for preoperative assessment including A-scans, topography, lens calculations, etc to size new lens. 3.Provisions for emergent care during the post operative period. 4.Provisions for emergent surgical treatment and care by referral from the local VA Missoula CBOC ophthalmologist for any emergency diagnosis that has been determined to need immediate treatment without delay. Credentialing and Privileging requirements at the contractor site and clinical preceptorship provided by the contractor to confirm competency of the VA Ophthalmologist delivering ophthalmology surgical care will be required. This would include the provision by the contractor of dedicated surgical suite time and all necessary support staff, lenses, supplies and equipment to assist in the delivery of pre op, intra op and immediate post op care. The provision of A-scans, topography, lens calculations, etc on site, to be performed by the contract staff as part of the preoperative assessment to measure for replacement lens. The contractor would need to complete the initial exam before the VA Ophthalmologist completes the surgery. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 621111 and the small business size standard is $10.0 million.
