Description
The Cryptologic Systems Group (CPSG) at Lackland AFB, TX is soliciting comments in response to several questions below. This RFI is not a formal solicitation and is not a request for proposals. Any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This RFI is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. CPSG is developing plans for an AF SCRM Center of Excellence (CoE) to address the supply chain threats as stated in the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative #11: "Develop a multi-pronged approach for global supply chain risk management." The DoD and AF have identified SCRM detection gaps in the following categories: 1) Software, 2) Firmware, and 3) Hardware. Globalization of the commercial Information and Communications Technology (ICT) marketplace provides increased opportunities for penetration of the supply chain by those intent on harming the United States to gain unauthorized access to data, alter data, or interrupt communications. The AF SCRM CoE will be assigned the task of acquiring capabilities to detect SCRM threats and vulnerabilities. CPSG is interested in understanding the capabilities of software and hardware tools available to address the gamut of SCRM challenges. CPSG is interested in hardware and software tools that are commercially available, but! is also exploring research initiatives that industry is funding, to address this problem area. CPSG is also interested in services that industry may have available to assist in the detection of SCRM vulnerabilities. Software tools that will eventually be utilized to detect SCRM vulnerabilities must be used on operating systems approved for use within the AF. Please provide answers to the following questions. Responses can focus on one or more of the categories listed below. Responses will be used in market research for any subsequent acquisition. Responses will be limited to a total of 10-pages, single spaced, 1" margins, with 12-point type. Please send unclassified responses via email no later than 13 July 2010 to: jeffrey.hardin@us.af.mil. For additional information see SCRM RFI document available for downloading.
