Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to Illumina, Inc, 9885 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA, 92121-1975, for a HiSeq 2000 Sequencing System. HiSeq 2000 delivers the highest sequencing output and fastest data generation rate over competitors. The HiSeq 2000 generates up to 200 Gb per run and up to 25 Gb per day, essentially allowing us to obtain more sequence information faster. The HiSeq 2000 will increase flexibility in planning experiments. The HiSeq 2000 has independently operable analysis applications that will allow various read lengths to run simultaneously currently we can only run one type of application at a time. NIA has 1400 samples that are projected to be run on this equipment and each run can last up to 5 days that flexibility will allow a more manageable workflow for our staff. The HiSeq 2000 will provide cost savings in consumables, allow us to obtain more sequence information faster, and allow experiment design flexibility. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request of competitive proposals. Interested partied may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 1631492 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist.
