- This is a Sources Sought Notice for A/E Services at the Houston VA Medical Center. The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) is seeking the services of an Architect-Engineer firm who are specialized in Healthcare design for Mental Health Care to design and develop all construction bid documents for a future procurement for Project# 580-319 and to provide construction period services to provide a 2 story building through vertical expansion of building 108 for Mental Health Care. The new addition will construct approximately 25,000 sf of new space and modifications of the existing space on the 1st floor. The work will include but not limited to composite steel frame structure, exterior pre-cast concrete panel, new space configuration to improve services and enhance space utilization, architectural remodeling, new finishes, electrical distribution, and low voltage communications, HVAC including plumbing and fire protection systems. The project will also include the design of a parking garage structure for 200 cars with design of future expansion up to 1200 cars. This sources sought is to determine availability of experienced A/E firms that have Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) status that operates within a 150 mile radius of the MEDVAMC. Please answer the questions below and send them to Antonio Jackson, Contracting Officer, at tony.jackson@va.gov. Include answers to all of the following questions. Please be specific with examples. 1) Firm Name, address, DUNS Number, years of A/E related experience, and distance from the MEDVAMC, Houston, TX. 2) Has your firm directly worked in design projects related to Mental Health Care? If so, be specific as to type, nature, location, services provided, amount of design/construction cost of the project, and provide a POC reference (name and phone number) for that project. 3) Does your firm have direct experience in vertical expansions and parking garage structures? If so, be specific as to nature of work, location, and experience. 4) Is your firm currently able to directly provide all necessary labor, material, equipment, and architectural and engineering services to prepare complete drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates from design stages through construction of the project. If so, site specific examples of full design through construction period services you provided. 5) Is your firm capable of providing all documents and designs electronically in the current versions of AutoCad/Architectural Desktop/Auto CAD MEP and Microsoft Word? 6) Is your firm listed in CCR, VETS100, VETBIZ, and ORCA as a VOSB or SDVOSB with an applicable NAICS code of 541310? VOSB or SDVOSB A/E firms that have experience in the Healthcare design for Mental Health Care are encouraged to respond to this sources sought notice by 3:00pm (local) on June 29, 2010.
