Description
Projects DescriptionInstall replacement natural gas 90.0% or higher heating furnaces. As required to replace existing furnaces; modify or replace sheet metal ventilation components, replace the condensation lines, replace or modify natural gas piping, connect to electrical supply; replace thermostat and wiring and clean. Clean sheet metal ductwork as noted; not all need cleaned. LocationAll replacement locations are at Park Headquarters, West Glacier Montana. Existing Furnace The existing furnaces are either York 90%+ natural gas furnace installed in 1990; or Lennox 80% furnaces installed in 1988. The BTU rating for both York and Lennox furnaces is 100,000 BTU. Design & DesignFollow establish standards from the American Society of Heating Refrigeration Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to size, design and replace. Warranty Furnace will carry a Manufacturer Warranty with a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger. The contractor warrants their work. The same company that installs the heating systems performs all warranty work. In project submittal contractor demonstrates they have a local repair and service department to back their product and work. Fuel SupplyAll buildings in the project have an existing natural gas services. Contractor shall make arrangements with utility company for any service connection work needed. Contractor is responsible for replacement after meter of gas piping as required to meet construction code to the furnace. All interior pipes to be properly sized black iron with flex connectors. Other Component Locations Contractor shall coordinate with assigned project manager on interior locations for HVAC components or other utility locations needed. DemolitionRemove the existing furnace; some ductwork, electrical control wiring, gas piping. Contractor is responsible for disposal of materials outside of park boundaries. Furnace SpecificationsThe furnace shall be a nationally recognized brand of American origin and manufacture. Typical American made furnaces are Trane, Lennox, Carrier, Bryant. Other brands meeting this requirement are acceptable. The vendor shall include specification on the furnace with submitted quote BTU Rating. The contractor will propose the BTU rating required for each house. The government estimate that the 1-small house will need a furnace in the 60,000 BTU range. The remainder will need furnaces in the 80-90,000 BTU range. In the proposal state what the BTU rating proposed. Winter interior temperature shall be maintained at 70F at -30F outside temperature. Energy efficiency will be rated at 90% or higher for condensing gas furnace. Furnace shall have sealed combustion chambers and utilize a 2-pipe venting system. Non-programmable electronic thermostat for heating with a summer fan switch All units require a condensate pump installation. Condensate drain lines are plumbed in solid PVC pipe. Piping shall install professional manner (plumb and level) to sump pump/drain Exterior vent pipes will exit through gable roof ends. The reason is West Glacier can have deep snow covering ground level or roof vents. The existing furnaces exterior vent pipes exit though the roof. For the exterior vent's location; coordinate with the Contracting Officer. Abandoned vent pipe openings will be repaired by NPS. PVC intake and exhaust air piping is acceptable if it meets manufacturer specification. Insulate vent pipes in attic Grade vent pipes for condensate water drainage. The contractor shall install a filter rack with replaceable 1" pleated air filter. Locate in an easy to service location. Ductwork Clean ductwork as noted in the Base Price portion of the solicition; not all installations require duct cleaning. The interior of all accessible ductwork will be either air-washed, brushed or hand vacuum clean. Access openings will be made into ductwork where necessary and opening later closed with approved sheet metal access covers, fasten and caulked to prevent air leakage. Non-accessible areas will be cleaned by air pressure techniques. Work will be done as per NADCA Standard 05. Water HeaterPlease note in the Bid Items the natural gas water heater in relationship to the exhaust venting with furnace and work if required.
