Description
4. Description of Work: All permits and inspections are the responsibility of the contractor. All products are to be installed per the manufacturer's instructions. A) All Concrete Sidewalk Work: The work shall include: a) Concrete thickness will be 4" minimum in areas solely supporting pedestrian traffic and 6" minimum in areas supporting vehicular traffic. Slump at the point of placement shall be not less 3" and not more than 5". b) Reinforcement is not required in area solely used for pedestrian travel. Reinforcement in area supporting vehicular traffic will consist of welded wire steel reinforcement with a minimum cross section of 0.120 sq, in per ft. c) Expansion joints in horizontal sidewalks will be filled with flex Rubber Expansion Joint Material for concrete from the J D Russell Company or equivalent. d) Submission of product information for items to be purchased/installed is required prior to procurement. e) Perform concrete repairs listed below ( see Appendix D): i. Research Lab: Remove and replace damaged concrete from around a canopy column base located at the southwest corridor exit near the lunch room. Seal the joint. ii. Vehicle Storage: Provide new pavement sealant joints at concrete to asphalt joints, joint between concrete and the exterior building wall and at concrete sidewalk to curbing joints. Cleanout joint, prep and fill with horizontal traffic grade pourable sealant. f) Install Sidewalks indicated listed below. i. Research Lab: Provide concrete landings outside of two doors at the north end of the building. One is located at the north east corridor and the other is at the conference room secondary exit. ii. Fish Passage Complex: Remove the existing 2X wood boardwalk at the northwest exterior entry door. Prepare sub-grade to receive a new concrete slab. Install to prevent heaving. iii. Parking Area: Remove a section of concrete sidewalk at the Fish Complex and provide a new curb ramp that complies with the ADA guidelines. Paint access aisle markings to indicate parking space and aisle clearance required. g) Contractor's proposal shall include disposal of any concrete removed for replacement. B) Window Glazing Work: a) Backer rod to be Mile High Foam from Backer Rod Mfg. Inc. or equivalent will be used for backer rod. Sealant is to be DYNAFLEX 230 FROM DAP or equivalent. Submission of product information foritems to be purchased/installed is required prior to procurement. Color of sealant materials will be selected by the facility manager or his/her designee. b) Remove and replace glazing on 24 windows indicated during pre-bid meeting. c) Contractor's proposal shall include disposal of any refuse from removed glazing material. C) Expansion Joint Work: a) Expansion Joints to be EMSEAL COLORSEAL system or equivalent. Sealant is to be DYNAFLEX 230 from DAP or equivalent. Submission of product information for items to be purchased/installed is required prior to procurement. Color of sealant materials will be selected by the facility manager or his/her designee. b) Remove and replace expansion joints including backing rod on all three main buildings. Reference: Appendices A, B, C for details of the buildings to be addressed. c) Contractor's proposal shall include disposal of any refuse from removed expansion joint material.
