Description
The intent of this project is to construct a 525 feet of new road will consist of salvaging approximately sixteen big boulders to be used for decommissioning. Stripping and salvaging six inches of top soil from the entire length of the new road. Leveling and preparing the road base for new materials, which will consists of adding six inches of drain rock and finish with six inches of aggregate base. Construct 75 feet of new driveway to replace the old driveway which will help protect the stream bank from further erosion. Decommission 0.12 acres of old roadway by de-compacting to a depth of ten inches and use boulders and down trees to block any new traffic. Restore vegetation with the use of salvaged top soil and rocks from the new roadway section. Decommission 20 ft of old driveway by de-compacting to a depth of ten inches and restoring the vegetation with top soil and any natural material in the area. There will be three rolling dips drainage systems on the new road to prevent erosion and the diversion of the new road runoff. The final rolling dips locations will be determine by the COR in the field. Temporary BMP's will be used to help prevent environmental damage during construction. The filter fence, and the fiber roll will be used to help stop transport of soil during construction. The use of tree protection fencing will be enforced for trees greater than 24 inches in diameter. No trees greater than 24 inches in diameter will be cut. Mulching 2 to 4 inches in depth will be used to help naturalize the restored area, approximately 5,227 square feet. Project Location: The Bridge Tract is located on National Forest System Land and backs to the Meiss roadless area. It is adjacent to the Upper Truckee River which is proposed for designation as Wild and Scenic River in the Upper Truckee watershed to the south of the Bridge Tract. The Upper Truckee is the largest watershed that feeds Lake Tahoe. The Bridge Road Realignment project is located south of Lake Tahoe on National Forest System Land, off Forest Service road 1111. Township 11N, Range 18E, Section 17, Latitude 38.79638 N, Longitude 120.01785 W. Price Range: The Government's estimate is approximately $25,000 to $100,000. Solicitation package will be uploaded approximately 7/14/2010. Closing bid date will be approximately August 13, 2010. Starting date will be approximately August 26, 2010.
