Description
SUMMARY OF WORK Replace Carpet in Preserve Buildings Description: Furnish and install Burke Vinyl Planks (7.2 in. x 37.4 Natural Wood Plank LVT) or its equivalent. Installation will include removal and replacement of existing flooring material, vinyl cove base and painted wood molding and any miscellaneous materials related to project. The building's are intermittently occupied/vacant, but you should assume occupied and furniture moving for all. 1.1 Location: Big Cypress National Preserve 33100 Tamiami Trail East Ochopee FL 34141 1.2 General: a)Special Criteria to Bidders: One site inspection will be held, time and date set by the contracting office. Contractor shall be qualified, licensed and will be required to provide three business and credit references to include names and telephone numbers. b)Prior to job start-up a pre-construction meeting will be held at the facility to clarify conditions and expectations. The contractor supervisor who will be supervising the daily work is required to attend this meeting. Work shall be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Government representative. c)Colors and samples: the National Park Service will specify color. Contractor shall present specimens in duplicate, for government approval. After approval, one specimen of each will be returned to the Contractor. The approved color shall be that which is installed. Final approval will be made by the National Park Service. d)Arrangements for use of water, sanitary facilities and telephone will be made with the National Park Service representative, subject to approval by the park Superintendent. e)The contractor will provide and maintain all barriers and signage required by law and statute for the protection of the public. f)The contractor will take necessary precautions to keep fire hazard to a minimum; including, but not limited to, daily removal from the area all oily rags, waste and other combustibles not in covered metal containers and provide at least two functional dry chemical fire extinguishers at each job site. g)The contractor shall be responsible for and secure daily, all his equipment, tools and materials at the job site. The contractor shall clean up and remove all garbage and debris associated with his activities from the job site on a daily basis. 1.3Materials and Equipment: A.Provide Burke Industries, Luxury Vinyl Flooring or its equivalent, having a nominal total thickness of 0.125 in. (3.2 mm) gauge, [17.9 in. x 17.9 in. tile products] 3.6 in. x 37.4 in. or 7.2 in. x 37.4 Natural Wood Plank LVT], consisting of a tough, clear, unfilled, polyurethane-coated, 0.120 in. thick wear layer composed of polyvinyl chloride resins, plasticizers, stabilizers, and processing aids over a printed film on an intermediate layer over a filled vinyl backing. Flooring shall meet composition, size, thickness, squareness, flexibility, residual indentation, resistance to chemicals, resistance to heat and resistance to light requirements of ASTM F 1700, "Standard Specification for Solid Vinyl Tile," Class III, Type B - Embossed Surface. All LVT must contain 67% minimum post consumer recycled content.B.Provide [Burke BR 711Flooring Adhesive] [BR721 Solvent Free, Two Part Epoxy Adhesive] or its equivalent for tile installation.C.For patching, smoothing, and leveling monolithic sub-floors (concrete, terrazzo, quarry tile, ceramic tile, and certain metals), provide cementituous based with a minimum compressive strength of 3,500 psi. D.Provide transition/reducing strips tapered to meet abutting materials.E.Provide threshold of thickness and width as shown on the drawings.F.Provide resilient edge strips of width shown on the drawings, of equal gauge to the flooring, homogeneous vinyl composition, tapered or bull nose edge, with color to match or contrast with the flooring, or as selected by the Architect from standard colors available.G.Provide metal edge strips of width shown on the drawings and of required thickness to protect exposed edges of the flooring. Provide units of maximum available length to minimize the number of joints. Use butt-type metal edge strips for concealed anchorage, or overlap-type metal edge strips for exposed anchorage. Unless otherwise shown, provide strips made of extruded aluminum with a mill finish. 1.4Preparation of Surfaces: A.Examine subfloors prior to installation to determine that surfaces are smooth and free from cracks, holes, ridges, and other defects that might prevent adhesive bond or impair durability or appearance of the flooring material.B.Inspect subfloors prior to installation to determine that surfaces are free from curing, sealing, parting and hardening compounds; residual adhesives; adhesive removers; and other foreign materials that might prevent adhesive bond. Visually inspect for evidence of moisture, alkaline salts, carbonation, dusting, mold, or mildew.C.Report conditions contrary to contract requirements that would prevent a proper installation. Do not proceed with the installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.D.Failure to call attention to defects or imperfections will be construed as acceptance and approval of the subfloor. Installation indicates acceptance of substrates with regard to conditions existing at the time of installation. E.Smooth concrete surfaces, removing rough areas, projections, ridges, and bumps, and filling low spots, control or construction joints, and other defects with fast-setting cement-based underlayment or fast-setting cement-based patch and skim coat as recommended by the flooring manufacturer.F.Remove paint, varnish, oils, release agents, sealers, and waxes. Remove residual adhesives as recommended by the flooring manufacturer. Remove curing and hardening compounds not compatible with the adhesives used, as indicated by a bond test or by the compound manufacturer's recommendations for flooring. Avoid organic solvents.G.Perform subfloor Calcium Chloride Tests (and Bond Tests) to determine if surfaces are dry; free of curing and hardening compounds, old adhesive and other coatings; and ready to receive flooring. H.Vacuum or broom-clean surfaces to be covered immediately before the application of flooring. Make subfloor free from dust, dirt, grease, and all foreign materials.1.5 Installation: I.Install flooring in strict accordance with the latest edition Burke Flooring LVT or its equivalent Installation Instructions. Install flooring wall to wall before the installation of floor-set cabinets, casework, furniture, equipment, movable partitions, etc. Extend flooring into toe spaces, door recesses, closets, and similar openings as shown on the drawings. J.If required, install flooring on pan-type floor access covers. Maintain continuity of color and pattern within pieces of flooring installed on these covers. Adhere flooring to the subfloor around covers and to covers.K.Scribe, cut, and fit to permanent fixtures, columns, walls, partitions, pipes, outlets, and built-in furniture and cabinets. Install flooring with adhesives, tools, and procedures in strict accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions. Observe the recommended adhesive trowel notching, open times, and working times. L.All work will be performed under a single contract. Buildings where work is to be performed: Q96 - Bedrooms and closets in bedrooms only of 2nd floor. Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor and install LVT flooring.Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (581 SF), total shoe mold (150 LF) in two story structure. Note: This is a set in place pre-stressed concrete floor A79 - Oasis VC, Sand/Rough up Chattahoochee River Rock epoxy or equal floor, Install 1/8" Mapei "Ultraplan" or its equivalent self-leveling underlayment on 1st floor. Install LVT flooring. The visitor lobby and auditorium areas have Chattahoochee River Rock flooring. The remainder of the areas on the first floor are poured concrete slab. Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad on 1st and 2nd floor. Install LVT over vinyl composition tile on 2nd floor hall and Resource Lab. Second floor is poured concrete. Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Building total floor (6,610 SF), total vinyl base (1,560 LF) Q1 - All bedrooms w/exception of bedroom #3, remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor Install LVT flooring. Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (930 SF), total shoe mold (305 LF) in single story structure. Note: Floor is poured concrete slab on grade sub-floor Q4 - On 1st floor install LVT in large utility room only. 2nd floor - all rooms except bathroom and stairway, remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor and install LVT flooring.Remove existing stair covering (carpet) and install new Flexco "VT" vinyl or its equivalent stair treads and risers. Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (947 SF), total shoe mold (306 LF) of two story structure.Note: 1st floor is poured concrete slab on grade. 2nd floor is plywood sheathing sub-floor Q2 - On 1st floor all rooms except bathrooms and closets. Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. 2nd floor - all rooms except bathrooms remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor and install LVT flooring. Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (1,407 SF), total shoe mold (400 LF) of two story structure. Note: 1st floor is poured concrete slab on grade. 2nd floor is plywood sheathing sub-floor. Q25 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in all rooms. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (1,358 SF), total shoe mold (315 LF) of stilt structure.Note: Floor is plywood sheathing sub-floor Q15 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in bedrooms, family room, all closets, and laundry room. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (775 SF), total shoe mold (150 LF) of single story structure. Note: Floor is poured concrete slab on grade. Q19 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in bedrooms and all closets. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (421 SF), total shoe mold (140 LF) of single story structure. Note: Floor is poured concrete slab on grade Q20 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in bedrooms and all closets. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (518 SF), total shoe mold (148 LF) of single story structure. Note: Floor is poured concrete slab on grade. Q220 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in all rooms except bathroom. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture/toilet moving and replacement, vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (404 SF), total wood base (110 LF). In the bathroom, remove and dispose of existing thin set ceramic tile and base. Install new 8" x 8" porcelain tile (40 SF) with matching 4' porcelain Bullnose base (26 LF) of one bedroom apartment. Note: Floor is set in place pre-stressed slab. Q224 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in all rooms except bathroom. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture/toilet moving and replacement, vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (249 SF), total wood base (195 LF). In the bathroom, remove and dispose of existing thin set ceramic tile and base. Install new 8" x 8" porcelain tile (40 SF) with matching 4' porcelain Bullnose base (26 LF) of one bedroom apartment. Note: Floor is set in place pre-stressed slab. Q217 - Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad, in all rooms except bathroom. Prepare subfloor, install LVT flooring, and include furniture/toilet moving and replacement, vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (249 SF), total wood base (195 LF). In the bathroom, remove and dispose of existing thin set ceramic tile and base. Install new 8" x 8" porcelain tile (60 SF) with matching 4' porcelain Bullnose base (30 LF) of efficiency apartment. Note: Floor is set in place pre-stressed slab. A67 - On 1st floor all rooms except bedrooms. 2nd floor - all rooms except bathroom. Remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor and install LVT flooring. Remove existing stair covering and install new Flexco "VT" or its equivalent vinyl stair tread and risers. Include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (1,787 SF), total vinyl base (480 LF), total stair treads and risers (80 LF) of two story structure.Note: 1st floor poured concrete slab on grade. 2nd floor plywood sheathing sub-floor. A100 - 2nd floor - all rooms except bathrooms and closets, remove and dispose of existing carpet and pad. Prepare subfloor and install LVT flooring.Remove existing stair covering and install new Flexco "VT" or its equivalent vinyl stair treads and risers, include furniture moving and vinyl transitions as required. Total floor (2,372 SF), total vinyl base (540 LF), total stair treads and risers (80 LF) of two story structure.Note: 2nd floor plywood sheathing sub-floor. The following building's will require painted shoe molding installation #'s Q1, Q 2, Q15, Q19, Q 20, Q25, Q96 Include removal of existing ceramic tile and replacement with 8" ceramic tile and 4" sanitary ceramic base tile for the following Q217, Q220, and Q224
