- Announcement of Opportunity: Top End Optical Assembly: The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA), on behalf of the National Solar Observatory (NSO), is soliciting proposals for the Top End Optical Assembly (TEOA) fabrication for the proposed Advanced Technology Solar Telescope (ATST), which will be located at the project site at Haleakala Observatory, Maui, Hawaii. The selected firm shall design, fabricate, polish, assemble, test, and transport the TEOA which contains the TEOA Support Structure including the Lyot Stop, the Heat Stop (HS) Assembly and the M2 Mirror Module. The M2 Mirror Module further contains the polished M2 Mirror, M2 Mirror Support Hardware, M2 Mirror Positioning System, M2 Fast Tip-Tilt System, M2 Control System, and M2 Thermal Control System. AURA is seeking to pre-qualify firms who are interested in submitting a proposal for the ATST TEOA. Parties interested in receiving the Request for Proposal documentation for these procurements must first complete and submit the Pre-Qualification by either fax (520 318 8500) or email (ATSTproposal@noao.edu) not later than 3:00 PM MST, Friday July 16th, 2010. The questionnaire can be accessed at: http://atst.nso.edu/contracts. Accompanying the Questionnaire shall be a one page letter of interest referencing Announcement of Opportunity No. 127905. The letter shall include the physical mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and email address for a contact person. Qualified parties will be provided access to the RFP documentation. AURA and the ATST Project are construction this 4-meter solar telescope on Haleakala in Hawaii under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.
