Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Canyonlands Research Station, Moab, UT has a requirement for a follow-on contract to provide soil and plant sample chemical analysis/testing. The Government intends to make a sole source award to Brigham Young University, Soil Testing Lab, Provo, UT 84602 in accordance with FAR 13.501(a) and the procedures of FAR Part 12, entitled, 'Acquisition of Commercial Items.' The Brigham Young University Plant and Soil testing Lab has been analyzing soil samples for USGS from the inception of our current research program. In order to make certain that the results from previous years and sites are comparable, it is imperative that the same soil testing facility continue to analyze and test future samples. Quality control measures are the most important and most variable in attempting to get results that can be used in comparison with other data. These measures may include temperature control, measurement of chemicals used in testing and equipment calibration. Disparate results from another lab would seriously compromise our research. One or more of the following tests will be performed on samples: Nitrate; Phosphorous; Potassium; Organic Matter; Zn, Fe, Mn,Cu; pH& salinity; pH, EC, SAR; CEC; Texture; Exchangeable ions; Total nitrogen; Particle size analysis; Sand size fractions; Calcium carbonate; ANP; Mineralizable N; Resin capsules with incubation; Resin capsules without incubation; Resin bags; ICP total elements. Plant Analysis: P1 - N, P, K, Zu, FE, Mn, Cu, Ca, Mg, S, N, Nitrate, Root CEC. This will be an indefinite quantity, indefinite delivery five (5) year contract with an estimated award date of 08/26/2010. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested vendors may identify their interest by submitting their capability statement by the close date of this announcement. All responses must be in writing by facsimile to the Contracting Officer at (916) 278-9339 or email vfriesner@usgs.gov. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
