- Description
- This project consists of the construction of an approximately 90 feet long, 4 foot wide trail bridge, including the removal of hazard trees, staking of the bridge site, and construction of concrete abutments and an approach stairway. The project is located within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, approximately.75 miles from the trailhead. A waiver to utilize a helicopter to transport bridge materials from the trailhead to the bridge site is approved, however, no other motorized equipment will be allowed in the Wilderness. The steel bridge susbstructure, wooden decking and railings will be Government supplied to the West Fork Foss Trailhead between August 6 to August 13, 2011. The trail can be reached by driving WA State Highway 2 approximately 50 miles east from Everett, WA to the Skykomish Ranger Station then continuing east on Hwy 2 for.5 miles to Foss River Road. Turn right on Foss River Rd. (also known as Forest Service Road 68) and continue on FSR 68 for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto FSR 6835 and continue 2.0 miles to the West Fork Foss Trail #1064. Continue approximately.75 miles on the West Fork Foss Trail to the bridge site marked with flagging. Estimated issue date for the solicitation is on or about August 4, 2010. Estimated start work date is October 15, 2010 with all work completed by October 30, 2011. The government estimated price range is between $25,000.00 and $100,000.00.
