- Description
- The Ground Vehicle Simulation Laboratory (GVSL) is located at the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Commands Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-TARDEC) in Warren, Michigan. The GVSL is a world-class facility that develops and applies physics-based simulations and simulators in support of TACOMs military vehicle research, development, acquisition and life cycle management missions. The GVSLs computer-based models are capable of predicting many measures of vehicle dynamic and structural integrity performance. The GVSLs unique motion-based simulators are used to place users, vehicle subsystems, or full vehicles in a variety of dynamic environments which accurately reproduce motion disturbances experienced during proving ground tests or field operations. The GVSL is looking to continue enhancing their modeling and simulation technology. This modeling and simulation technology is intended to build upon the infrastructure currently existing in the GVSL to conduct Warrior/Hardware-in-the-loop simulations. The technology developed will advance the Armys ability to evaluate vehicle systems with regard to mobility, durability, and operations on the move. The technologies developed must be able to execute in real-time and must be physics-based. The GVSL has developed a baseline capability for man/hardware-in-the-loop simulation with existing motion base simulators, image generators, real-time dynamics models, high performance computers, and a software framework which serves as the foundation for these technologies. The Contractor shall provide, on a work directive basis, the required expertise, software, support, and services to the GVSL in performing the above mission. The Contractor shall advise the GVSL with regard to technical and programmatic issues. The Contractor shall provide the required support working as an independent Contractor and not as an employee of the Government.
